📌 Quick answer: The 2026 Batch C Stream II NYSC orientation course begins on Wednesday, 4 November 2026 in all 36 states and the FCT. Registration of corps members runs from 4 November until midnight on Friday, 6 November; the swearing-in ceremony is also on 6 November, and the closing ceremony is on Tuesday, 24 November 2026. Take your printed call-up letter and the documents it lists. NYSC’s bye-laws say a corps member who leaves camp without permission, refuses to wear the uniform, or comes late to official activities can be decamped and made to wait for the next batch.
For thousands of graduates, the three weeks of orientation camp are the start of the service year, and the first chance to make a costly mistake. Arriving after registration closes, forgetting a document or breaking a camp rule can mean losing your place and waiting months for the next batch. This guide sets out the official dates, the documents to prepare and the rules that matter most, using NYSC’s own statement and bye-laws.
2026 Batch C Stream II: Key Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Orientation camps open | Wednesday, 4 November 2026 |
| Registration of corps members | 4 November to midnight, Friday 6 November 2026 |
| Swearing-in ceremony | Friday, 6 November 2026 |
| Closing ceremony | Tuesday, 24 November 2026 |
| Where | Orientation camps in all 36 states and the FCT, Abuja |
The registration window is just three days. Aim to arrive on 4 November or early on 5 November. Long queues are common on the first days, and travelling on the last day leaves no room for a delayed bus or a document problem.
Your Call-Up Letter
Your call-up letter tells you which state you have been posted to and is the first thing you will be asked for at the camp gate. Prospective corps members print it from their NYSC dashboard on the official portal (portal.nysc.org.ng). If you registered for Batch C and did not receive a Stream I call-up letter, check your dashboard regularly in the days before camp opens.
- Print it in colour and make several photocopies.
- Read it carefully. It states your state of deployment, camp location and the documents and items you must bring. Where anything on this page differs from your letter, follow your letter.
- Use only the official portal. Never pay anyone who claims they can change your posting or “release” your call-up letter.
If your name is missing because JAMB has no record of your admission, the problem may be regularisation. See our guide to JAMB regularisation and the matriculation list.
Documents to Take to Camp
The exact list is printed on your call-up letter. Corps members are usually asked to bring:
| Document | Tip |
|---|---|
| Printed call-up letter | Original plus photocopies |
| Green card (registration slip) from the portal | Print it with your call-up letter |
| Statement of result or degree/HND certificate | Original and photocopies |
| School identity card | Used to confirm your identity against your school records |
| Medical certificate of fitness | From a recognised hospital |
| Recent passport photographs | Bring more than you think you need |
| Practising licence (medical and other professionals) | NYSC’s FAQ asks medical professionals to bring their licences |
| Original documents (foreign-trained graduates) | NYSC’s FAQ asks foreign graduates to bring all originals uploaded online, plus translations where needed |
Keep all your documents together in a plastic file or folder, and keep photos of each one on your phone as a backup.
What to Pack
NYSC provides the uniforms for camp activities, and its bye-laws require you to wear them. Most corps members also bring:
- Extra plain white T-shirts, white shorts, white socks and white canvas shoes or trainers;
- A few changes of everyday clothes for weekends and religious services;
- Toiletries, a bucket, a small padlock for your box, a torch and a power bank;
- Bedsheets and a light blanket or cardigan, since November nights can be cool, especially in the north as harmattan sets in;
- Any regular medication, in its original packaging;
- Some cash in small notes, as electronic payment is not always available in camp markets.
Do not bring a car or motorcycle, a pet, alcohol for parties, or anything that could be treated as a weapon. The bye-laws say a member who brings a vehicle, motorcycle or pet will not be registered.
Camp Rules That Can Get You Decamped
NYSC’s bye-laws set out a code of conduct for the orientation period, enforced by a Camp Court. “Decamped” means you are sent out of camp and can only return by joining a later batch. These are the rules most worth knowing:
| Offence | Penalty in the bye-laws |
|---|---|
| Coming late to official activities on the field, at lectures or at work | Can be decamped; return only with the next batch |
| Leaving camp without the State Coordinator’s written permission | Can be decamped; return only with the next batch |
| Refusing or failing to wear the uniforms provided | Can be decamped |
| Bringing a vehicle, motorcycle or pet | Not registered, or decamped if already registered |
| Being rude or insubordinate to camp officials | Extension of service by 30 days on half pay |
| Addressing the press on policy without written consent | Extension of service by 30 days on half pay |
| Smoking, or making or answering calls, on parade | 30 minutes’ extra drill |
| Getting drunk, or organising night parties without permission | Extra drill and/or 30 minutes in the camp rehabilitation room |
| Receiving visitors except on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays | Extra drill and/or 30 minutes in the camp rehabilitation room |
| Gambling, stealing, mob action, firearms, hard drugs or forged documents | Reported to the police for prosecution |
| Secret cult activity | Immediate suspension and referral to the police |
If you are ill, the bye-laws require any absence from activities to be covered by an “Excuse Duty Certificate” from the doctor on duty at the camp. Do not simply stay in your hostel.
After Camp
At the end of orientation you receive a posting letter to your place of primary assignment, where you serve for the rest of the year. Married women and others with recognised grounds can apply for relocation through the NYSC portal; NYSC’s FAQ lists “Application for Relocation after Camp” among the portal’s self-services.
