📌 Quick answer: Open now: the Nigerian Navy Batch 39 recruitment (applications close 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm) and the Nigerian Army 92RRI intake (the portal shows applications as ongoing, with screening from 17 November to 1 December). Federal vacancies advertised through the Federal Character Commission include clinical and nursing posts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Closed: the Nigerian Air Force (applications ran 3 September to 14 October 2026), FRSC and the CDCFIB exercise for Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration. Each status below was checked on the official portal.
Every week, thousands of Nigerians search for the same thing: which government recruitment is actually open, and where to apply. The answers online are often out of date, copied from last year or, worse, linked to fake portals that collect money and personal data. This page lists only what the official portals themselves show, with the date we checked. We update it every week.

Nigerian Navy Batch 39: closes 31 October
The Navy’s portal opened on 2 October and closes on 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm. The aptitude test is scheduled for 21 November 2026, with training planned for the first quarter of 2027. Applicants must be at least 1.68m tall (men) or 1.65m (women). Age limits, counted as at 31 December 2026, are 18 to 22 for O’level holders, 18 to 26 for OND, NCE and nursing applicants, and 18 to 28 for tradesmen and women. Our full guide covers Navy Batch 39 requirements and how to apply.
Nigerian Army 92RRI: applications ongoing
When we checked, the Army’s recruitment portal said the 92RRI online application is ongoing, for regular recruits and special skilled applicants. The portal does not show a closing date, so apply as early as you can rather than waiting for one to appear. It does give the screening window: shortlisted candidates will report to their states of origin from 17 November to 1 December 2026. See our 92RRI requirements and application guide, and our guide to preparing for the Army and Navy screening.
Federal hospital and university vacancies
Federal ministries, departments and agencies must publish vacancy adverts, and the Federal Character Commission collects many of them on the Recruitment page of fcc.gov.ng. This week’s notable listing is Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi. Its advert, dated 10 October 2026, invites applications for consultants and resident doctors in 13 specialties, plus medical and dental officers, nurses, nurse tutors, pharmacists, medical laboratory scientists, radiographers, physiotherapists, optometrists, environmental health officers, technicians and system analysts. Applications go to the Chief Medical Director, either typewritten by post or through the online form linked in the advert, and close six weeks from the date of publication.
For private-sector entry roles, see our list of graduate trainee programmes open now.
Recently Closed: Prepare for the Next Round
Nigerian Air Force
The Air Force’s portal shows that applications for the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) and the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) ran from 3 September to 14 October 2026 and are now closed. If you applied, you can still print your acknowledgement card from the portal. For the next exercise, note the age limits the Air Force used this time: 18 to 22 for BMTC non-tradesmen and women, 18 to 25 for BMTC tradesmen and women, and 20 to 32 for the DSSC.
FRSC
The Federal Road Safety Corps portal says it has been closed for applications and that existing applicants will be contacted for further steps. Do not respond to messages offering to reopen your application for a fee.
Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration (CDCFIB)
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board recruits for four services at once: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service. Its recruitment portal says the 2024/2025 exercise has concluded and asks applicants to watch the portal for further details. There is no open CDCFIB recruitment at the moment, whatever social media posts say.
How to Spot a Fake Recruitment Link
- Check the address. Official military portals end in .mil.ng and government agency portals in .gov.ng. A link ending in .com, .com.ng, .org or a free blog domain is not the official portal.
- Type the portal address yourself. Do not apply through links forwarded on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Never pay to “secure a slot”. No agent, officer or “contact” can guarantee a place. Be wary of anyone who asks for money to help you get shortlisted.
- Protect your NIN and BVN. Enter personal details only on the official portal, never in a Google Form shared by a stranger. (A real employer’s advert may link to its own form, as NAUTH’s does; check that the link comes from the official advert.)
- Confirm dates on the portal. If a post gives a closing date the official site does not show, trust the official site.
Documents to Have Ready Before the Next Exercise
Military and paramilitary exercises often open for only a few weeks. Candidates who already have their documents in order apply in the first days, while others are still chasing papers. The Army and Navy exercises now running ask for documents such as:
- Your National Identification Number (NIN);
- O’level result (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) and, where relevant, higher qualifications or trade test certificates;
- Birth certificate or sworn declaration of age;
- Certificate of state of origin from your local government;
- Recent passport photographs;
- Any forms the portal asks you to print and have signed. Our screening guide lists what the Army and Navy require.
Make sure your name and date of birth match on every document, including your NIN. Mismatches are a common reason candidates are turned away at screening. If you are still waiting for an O’level result, our guide to the WAEC GCE 2026 result explains when it could be out.
