📌 Quick answer: Shortlisted Nigerian Army 92RRI candidates are screened in their state of origin from 17 November to 1 December 2026; there is no computer-based test. Nigerian Navy Batch 39 applicants sit an aptitude test on 21 November 2026 before interviews and medicals. For both, bring your printed portal forms signed by your parent or guardian, LGA and police, your guarantor’s form, original certificates, birth certificate and NIN. Tattoos, mismatched names and forged documents are the commonest reasons candidates are sent home.
Applying online is the easy part. The real test of military recruitment is screening: the day your documents, height, fitness and medical condition are checked against the rules, often after a long wait in a crowded field. Many candidates who met every requirement on paper are turned away on the day for avoidable reasons.
This guide covers the two exercises running now, using the instructions on the Army’s and Navy’s official recruitment portals.

- Photocopies of your birth certificate or age declaration
- Photocopies of your credentials, including your First School Leaving Certificate or testimonial (the original primary school certificate is required at the selection interview)

- Scratch cards for your WAEC, GCE, NECO or NABTEB results
What Happens at Screening
Each service runs its own process, but candidates should expect these checks:
- Documentation. Your forms and certificates are checked against what you entered online. Names and dates of birth must match across your NIN, certificates and birth certificate.
- Height measurement. Both services require at least 1.68m for men and 1.65m for women.
- Body check. Both services reject candidates with tattoos. The Army also bars piercings (other than tribal marks) and multiple ear piercings for women.
- Medical examination. The Navy’s guidelines exclude applicants with sight or hearing problems, communicable diseases, mental illness, stammering, physical disability, poor dental health, flat feet, spinal deformities or a BMI outside its limits. The Army requires candidates to be medically, physically and psychologically fit by its standards.
- Fitness. Expect running and physical exercises; arrive able to run several kilometres without stopping.
- Tests and interviews. The Navy sets an aptitude test for shortlisted applicants on 21 November and holds selection interviews. The Army has said there is no pre-selection CBT for 92RRI.
The Mistakes That Send Candidates Home
| Mistake | How to avoid it |
|---|---|
| Name or date of birth differs between NIN, certificates and birth certificate | Fix your NIN record before screening; carry all documents |
| Forms not signed by the right official | Get the LGA form signed by the Chairman or Secretary and the police form by the DPO, early |
| Going to the wrong state | Army screening is in your state of origin, not where you live |
| Tattoos or piercings | Both services reject tattoos; the Army also bars piercings |
| Bringing phones or recording devices (Army) | The Army bans electronic or recording devices at screening |
| Forged or borrowed documents | Both services disqualify, and the Navy hands offenders to the police |
| Paying “connection” money | Both exercises are free; anyone selling slots is a fraudster |
A Four-Week Preparation Plan
With Army screening starting on 17 November and the Navy test on 21 November, you have about four weeks from now. Use them well.
| When | Focus |
|---|---|
| Now | Print all forms; visit your LGA secretariat and police division for signatures; find a guarantor who meets the form’s conditions |
| Weeks 1–2 | Run three or four times a week, building to 5km without stopping; add push-ups, sit-ups and short sprints |
| Week 2 | Navy applicants: practise basic English, mathematics and general knowledge questions for the aptitude test |
| Week 3 | Check eyesight and teeth at a clinic so you know of any issue before the medical; keep training |
| Final week | Make photocopies, pack documents in a clear file, plan your journey, and rest the night before |
What to Take on the Day
- All documents in a clear plastic file, plus spare photocopies and passport photographs
- Sportswear and running shoes
- Water and light food; screening days can be long
- Enough money for transport home; do not carry large amounts of cash
