Graduate Trainee Programmes in Nigeria Open Now (Late October 2026): Verified List, Requirements and How to Avoid Fake Adverts

Every week, WhatsApp groups and social media pages share long lists of “graduate trainee programmes now open”. Many of the links are expired, copied from last year, or lead to sites that ask for a fee. This list is short on purpose: we only include programmes we could confirm on the employer’s official careers page or official social media account, and we say clearly when no closing date is published.

Afrinvest Analyst Programme (TAAP) 2027

The investment banking and asset management firm’s analyst programme is one of the few graduate schemes open to any discipline with a Second Class Lower. Afrinvest’s own posts set the age limit at 28 and say no work experience is required. Applications close on 25 October 2026, so if you qualify, apply today.

Emerson Graduates Program Nigeria 2026

Emerson, the global automation and engineering company, describes its Graduate Sales Engineer role as a development programme combining formal and on-the-job training in technical and commercial work. Applicants need a degree in electrical/electronic, chemical or mechanical engineering, or in physics, chemistry, geology or computer science, with at least a 2:1. The age limit is 26, and you must have finished NYSC or have your discharge or exemption certificate by December 2026. The posting does not show a closing date.

SLB Graduate Technical Internships

SLB (formerly Schlumberger) is recruiting interns in Port Harcourt for three tracks: Field Engineer Intern (engineering degree), Field Specialist Intern (engineering HND or equivalent) and Mechanical and Electrical/Electronics Technician Intern (HND or technical certificate). All require at least a 2:1, completed NYSC and graduation within the last three years, including NYSC. The work is hands-on: preparing equipment, supporting field jobs and collecting data under strict safety standards.

If someone offers to “help you apply” for these, it is a scam: the application windows have ended.

What Graduate Programmes in Nigeria Usually Require

If you have a 2:2, look out for programmes that state “any discipline” or “minimum 2:2”, like Afrinvest’s, and for trades, technician or HND tracks such as SLB’s.

How to Spot a Fake Graduate Trainee Advert

• It asks for money. Genuine employers do not charge for forms, tests or “processing”.
• The link is not on the company’s own website. Shortened links and Google Forms shared on WhatsApp should be checked against the company’s official careers page or verified social account.
• The email address is a Gmail or Yahoo account rather than the company’s domain.
• You are “shortlisted” without applying, or offered a job without an interview.
• The deadline is last year’s. Many lists recycle old adverts; check the date on the employer’s page.

How to Give Your Application a Better Chance

1. Apply early. Programmes without a closing date can shut once they have enough applicants.
2. Match your CV to the role. For Emerson and SLB, put engineering projects, lab work and SIWES placements near the top. Our free tools page includes a CV builder.
3. Prepare for aptitude tests. Most graduate schemes start with numerical, verbal and logical reasoning tests. Practise timed questions.
4. Keep your documents ready: degree certificate or statement of result, NYSC certificate, a professional photo and a valid ID.
5. Check your email, including spam, for test invitations, which often come with short deadlines.
