📌 Quick answer: The Nigerian Navy’s Batch 39 recruitment into the Basic Training School (NNBTS) is open until 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm WAT. Apply free on the official portal, joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, with your NIN, email and phone number. Most O’level applicants must be 18 to 22 years old by 31 December 2026; OND, NCE and nursing applicants can be up to 26, and tradesmen up to 28. Minimum height is 1.68m for men and 1.65m for women. The aptitude test holds on 21 November 2026, and basic training starts in the first quarter of 2027.
Batch 39 is the Navy’s intake of ratings: young Nigerians who join as Ordinary Seaman and are trained for a branch such as seamanship, engineering, communications, medical support or a trade. It is not the officer route; graduates who want a commission apply through the Direct Short Service Course instead.

How to Apply for Navy Batch 39: Step by Step
- Go to joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng and download the guidelines. Read the entry category you want before you start.
- Create your account with your email address and phone number. Both are confirmed with a one-time code.
- Verify your identity. The portal looks up your NIN with NIMC and then takes a short live face scan (about 20 seconds) to match you to it. Use a phone with a working front camera, in good light.
- Complete the application in ten guided steps. Your progress saves automatically.
- Upload your documents in JPG, PNG or PDF, each no larger than 500KB. Compress large scans before you begin.
- Submit before 11:59pm on 31 October. Then print your applicant slip and the forms the portal gives you.
- Track your status on the portal. If you are shortlisted, download your exam slip for the 21 November aptitude test.
Forms and Documents for Screening
If you are invited to the recruitment centre, you must bring these, properly completed and signed:
- Applicant’s Declaration Form
- Parent/Guardian Consent Form, signed by your parent or guardian
- Local Government Area Certification (Identification) Form, signed by your LGA Chairman or Secretary, or by a Navy Commander (or Army/Air Force equivalent) or a police CSP and above from your state of origin
- Police Certification Form and Guarantor’s Form
- Photocopies of your birth certificate or age declaration
- Photocopies of your credentials, including your First School Leaving Certificate or testimonial
- Scratch cards for your WAEC, GCE, NECO or NABTEB results
Declare every qualification you have now. The guidelines say certificates not presented during recruitment cannot be used later for a change of department or promotion.
Avoid Fake Navy Recruitment Sites and Agents
The only official portal ends in .navy.mil.ng. Copycat websites and social media pages with similar names collect fees and personal data from applicants. The Navy has said that online registration and every stage of the exercise are free, and that nobody should pay anyone at any point. Anyone who promises a guaranteed slot for money is a fraudster, and the guidelines warn that anyone caught with forged documents or impersonating another applicant will be disqualified and handed to law enforcement.
