Post-UTME 2026/2027: Where Admission Stands in October, JAMB Cut-Off Marks, Deadlines and What to Do Now

📌 Where things stand (checked 13 October 2026): Post-UTME screening for 2026/2027 has finished at most universities, and admission lists are going out through JAMB’s CAPS. JAMB’s deadline for public universities to finish admissions is 31 October 2026; polytechnics have until 30 November, and monotechnics and colleges of education until 31 December. The minimum JAMB score is 150 for universities and nursing colleges and 100 for polytechnics. If you are offered admission, you have four weeks to accept on CAPS.

JAMB’s 2026 Admission Rules

At its policy meeting on 11 May 2026, JAMB set these benchmarks for 2026/2027:

These are national minimums. Each institution sets its own cut-off, often much higher for competitive courses, and cannot admit beyond its approved quota.

What to Do Now

1. Check CAPS regularly on the JAMB e-facility portal. Admission offers appear there, not only on school lists.
2. Accept or reject your offer within four weeks. JAMB says unaccepted offers can be withdrawn and given to someone else.
3. Make sure your O’Level results are uploaded to your JAMB profile; missing results are a common reason admission stalls.
4. Check your school’s portal for screening results, admission lists and acceptance fee instructions, and pay only on the official portal.
5. Change of course or institution opens only after JAMB’s mop-up examination. Watch jamb.gov.ng for dates.

If Your First Choice Did Not Work Out

• Polytechnics and colleges of education run later admission timetables (deadlines 30 November and 31 December), and some are still screening.
• Some private universities admit later in the year; check their official websites.
• Change of institution after the mop-up, if a school with places will consider your score.
• Prepare for UTME 2027 if you want to try again: see our JAMB 2027 study plan.

Where to Check Official Post-UTME Information

Always use the school’s own website (ending in .edu.ng) for forms, screening results and admission lists:

• Federal universities: for example unilag.edu.ng, ui.edu.ng, oauife.edu.ng, unn.edu.ng, abu.edu.ng, uniben.edu, unilorin.edu.ng, futa.edu.ng, buk.edu.ng
• State universities: for example lasu.edu.ng, oouagoiwoye.edu.ng, eksu.edu.ng, rsu.edu.ng, esut.edu.ng, delsu.edu.ng
• Private universities: for example covenantuniversity.edu.ng, babcock.edu.ng, run.edu.ng, pau.edu.ng, aun.edu.ng

How Post-UTME Works

Post-UTME is a university’s own screening on top of your JAMB score. Depending on the school it is a computer-based test, document screening, or a calculation from your JAMB score and O’Level grades. You buy the form on the school’s portal, enter your JAMB registration number and O’Level details, print your slip and attend any test. Your JAMB score gets you considered; the screening decides your place.

Admission Scams to Avoid

• Buy forms and pay acceptance fees only on the school’s official .edu.ng portal.
• Nobody can “guarantee” admission or sell “leaked” questions.
• People claiming to be university staff who can “process” your admission for money are fraudsters.
• Your offer is only real when it appears on JAMB CAPS.
