Every year Nigerians argue about which song really owned the year, and the argument usually runs on vibes. The Official Nigeria Top 100 gives a more objective answer, because it blends streaming and airplay. Here is every No. 1 of 2026 that we could confirm, with issue dates, weeks at the top and what else was happening on the chart.
How the Nigeria Top 100 Works
The chart is published weekly by TurnTable magazine. Streaming makes up 50 per cent, drawn from platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Boomplay, Audiomack, YouTube and Deezer, with paid streams weighted more heavily than ad-supported ones. Airplay makes up the other 50 per cent, tracked through Radiomonitor across radio and television plays in Nigeria. A song can therefore top the streaming chart and still not be No. 1 overall if its airplay is weak, and the reverse.

The Notable Stories on the Chart
“Jogodo” is the year’s longest run. It launched at No. 1 and held the top for nine weeks. A report on “B4 B4” confirms that, in 2026, only “Jogodo” has stayed at No. 1 longer than “B4 B4″‘s five weeks.
Asake owned May. After “Back Outside” took the top spot, Asake’s “Gratitude” debuted at No. 1 the following issue, and TurnTable noted that “Back Outside” was the only non-Asake song in the top ten that week. “Forgiveness” then spent its second week at No. 1 while Wizkid and DJ Tunez’s “STATE OF MIND” debuted at No. 8.
“CHANEL” interrupted Asake’s solo run. Blaqbonez’s song, featuring Asake, debuted at No. 1 and held it for four weeks. “Forgiveness” then returned for a third, non-consecutive week. See our CHANEL explainer.
“Elumelu” kept hitting the ceiling. Young Jonn’s “Elumelu” lifted to No. 2 in the issue reported on 1 July, then held at No. 2 in the reports on 8 July and 14 July, behind “I Know Who I Be” and “treat u right”. Based on what we could confirm, it had not reached No. 1 by mid-July. Young Jonn and Rema’s “LaLaLa” also debuted at No. 3 in early January.
A new name in January. TurnTable reported that Priesst’s “Akonuche” jumped from No. 85 to No. 10 in a single week in January. Priesst is among the Rookie of the Year nominees at the 2026 Headies, which we cover in our Headies guide.
An AI-generated song reached the top ten. The week “Jogodo” launched at No. 1, TurnTable reported that an AI-generated song, “Papaoutai (Afro Soul)”, entered the top ten at No. 7. We could not find details about its creator or later chart run.
FOLA’s three No. 1s. FOLA appears on three of the year’s No. 1 songs: “Paparazzi” with Shoday, “treat u right” with Ayra Starr, and “B4 B4” with Davido and Mayorkun. See our treat u right explainer and B4 B4 explainer.
The B4 B4 Run
“B4 B4” debuted at No. 1 with 6.12 million on-demand streams and 46.5 million radio reach, according to a report on its fifth week. It reached No. 1 on 11 August, ranked first on both the streaming and radio components, and held the top despite competition from Ayra Starr, Rema, Seyi Vibez and Asake. Five weeks at No. 1 matches Davido’s personal record on this chart, set by “With You”. It is the second No. 1 shared by Davido and Mayorkun after “The Best” in 2020.
What We Could Not Confirm
We could not confirm the No. 1 songs for the issues between 16 July and 4 August, or any chart after 8 September. We will update this page as soon as we have verified weekly reports for those dates rather than guess.
