Akpos is on his first day as a waiter in a posh Abuja hotel hosting the Minister of Poverty Alleviation when an armed ex-army captain seizes the building. What begins as a kidnapping mutates into something closer to a televised revolution.
AY Makun finally finds the right container for his comic persona: the everyman trapped between the gun and the government. Bucci Franklin is superb as the captain whose grievances sound uncomfortably reasonable, and the script keeps asking the audience who is actually responsible for this country’s problems.
Verdict: Loud, funny, angrier than it looks. One of the year’s most watchable Netflix naija titles.
