If Cordelia exists for one reason, it is to demonstrate what Sola Sobowale can do when a screenplay matches her abilities. A matriarch managing the fractures in a family she built, Sobowale plays the role as a symphony of repressed feeling.

Director Osamede Oboh handles the chamber drama setting with spatial intelligence. Mercy Johnson-Okojie delivers some of her most controlled work. Bimbo Manuel communicates a lifetime of negotiated identity in very few scenes. The AMVCA nomination was entirely deserved.

Verdict: A character study powered by one of Nollywood’s greatest performances. Sola Sobowale at her finest.
